the smoking popes, being from the area i grew up in, have always been a cool, inspiring band. They have a new album coming out in a couple of weeks. I got my copy from Asian Man Records on Saturday. It is great. It tells a story from the view of someone in High School. Since most of the smoking popes fans were in high school when they first got into them (myself included) this album kind of pulls from memories and feelings that have been forgotten, but never really went away either.

a few years ago, the Smoking Popes and Alkaline Trio played a new years eve show. People who were lucky enough to go to that show got a split where the bands covered each others' songs. I was not one of those lucky few, I have tried to buy the record off ebay to no luck. However, thanks to the internet you can hear both songs below. And you know, there are free youtube to mp3 converters out there if you wanted to have a copy of this for yourself. Just sayin
