hey, there are a few things you should go and buy today.
Start off by getting a new track from The Dangerous Summer called "Good Things." I have never heard anything bad from these guys, every song is solid. So, this is a very good thing (cheesy i know, but i had to do it because it is true)
After that check out Fred Mascherino's new band, Terrible Things. Their full-length debut album comes out today and Amazon.com has it for $5.99. Click below to get it.
while you are there, check out the deal of the day by Ryan Bingham called "Junky Star." I am not sure on this one 100% so feel free to make your own judgment. BUT, I can say that a lot of the music I have been listening to lately has a lot of similarities to be heard on this album. Plus, as of the time of this post, it is only $3.99.

a list of things you should listen to in no real order of any type wahtsoever
It is Monday, I spent the last week in Baltimore for work, and I kind of do not want to do anything work-related today. So, here is a list I am making with no discernible theme or any real reason other than i feel like spreading some musical goodness around (with handy links to albums as well). This is by no means a top list of my favorite stuff, more like a list of things I have been listening to the last few days
frontier(s)- "There will be no miracles here"
The Gaslight Anthem (anything you can get your hands on)
-
The Lawrence Arms - Also anything you can find, but start with "The Greatest Story Ever Told"
Lucero - Anything works, but start with "Nobody's Darlings"
"
Sundowner - "we chase the waves" and "Four One Five two"
Sparta - "Threes" "Porcelain" "Wiretap Scars"
Taking back Sunday - "live from Orensanz"
The Menzingers - "Chamberlain Waits"
Dan Padilla (see my post from yesterday)
Iron Chic (see my older post)
I feel like i should keep going, but this really works for me as a list of things that are amazing.

Free Album From Dan Padilla
So the band Dan Padilla, their label Paper+Plastick and Razorcake have teamed up with punknews.org to put their new album up for free download. I got it this morning and it rocks. Very much Hot Water Music sounding, or maybe some Banner Pilot.
Whatever you want to call it, it is good music, worth your time to take advantage of the free download.
Head over to punknews.org's page by clicking here
other Dan Padilla stuff can be checked out below

Captain, We're Sinking new song on bandcamp
head over to Captain, We're Sinking's bandcamp page to hear a pretty cool song with a rad visualization for the notes. It is really pretty cool.
BTW i pretty much support bandcamp 100% in what they are doing. But, I think they could use a search feature and maybe some more exposure. but, damn. It is a great service.

we all heard (or maybe not) about the Justin Bieber song that was slowed down and actually sounded awesome. Well, io9 went and gave that treatment to some cool sci-fi songs and the nerd in me thinks you should check it out, here

New Music: Frontier(s)
I was somewhat skeptical, but very interested to hear what the first full length "there will be no miracles here" from Frontier(s) was going to sound like. The album review I read, did not sound like what I would expect from former Elliot frontman and emo pioneer, Chris Higdon. Now, I talking the real "emo" not the fucktards walking around with girl pants, swoopy hair and makeup on. No, I am talking about emo when it stood for EMOtional punk rock. There was no neon shirts, shutter shades, talk about cutting. This was primarily an outlet for normal dudes who wrote about what was going on with their lives, girls, bullshit etc.
Well, to get back on track, Frontier(s) sounds nothing like what I would expect coming from a founding member of the above mentioned genre. No, Frontier(s) reminds me of Sparta. Yes, Jim Ward's post-at the drive in band. And trust me, this is a VERY good thing.
Post-rock is how the little bio on myspace describes Frontier(s), and I would say that is very fitting. Where Sparta left off on Threes with a huge sound, driving guitars, powerful bass and amazing vocals, Frontier(s) seem to be picking up the torch and turning into the great Chicago fire. There is an ambient sound on some songs that won't let you lull off, there is a powerful blast to others. Really, this is an album that got me interested, and kept my attention from start to finish.
All too often, bands like this have a tendency to get a little long and boring the more you listen to it. Where all the songs start to sound very much the same. Sure, you want a consistent sound on an album to keep it all together, but figuring out how to do that without drilling it into the listener's head is a hard thing to do. Frontier(s) have done just that. They have created a collection of songs that flow from track to track without getting boring or screaming "this is our thing, this is how we play music" over and over and over. There is a lot of talent in this band, but they are truly a "band" not just a collection of musicians that play songs together.
Take a minute to think about that. Then go grab "there will be no miracles here"
i got mine from itunes.
if you like that, check out Sparta and see what you missed out on.

New Iron Chic Album, as you may have heard about from this blog yesterday
holy hell, this is a fantastic album. There are few bands that can encapsulate the strength and energy of a live show into a studio album. This is something Iron Chic have been able to do since their first demo ep got burned and shipped out to those of us that sent the $3 in. Absolutely great songwriting from a band that is doing it the right way. You can tell, this is a band that writes music for the love of music, not to follow the trends and get "the kids" interested.
There are a few songs that have showed up on their previous outputs, but really, songs like "Timecop" are so well written and performed, having multiple copies is not a bad thing by any means. I honestly listened to it twice since i got in the car to come to work. Thanks to the player at the top of the page, you should be listening to it now too!
It is good to see a band that has a unique sound and is a strong "Band" as a whole produce such great music. That raw power of a live show, without being a live recording.
I am reminded to early Gaslight Anthem in regards to the sense of importance this music has. I feel like I am in on a secret that I am just waiting for it to explode and be in everyone's ears.

Iron Chic rocks soooooo go check out this album
listen here
Iron Chic put their new full length up on their bandcamp page for a "pay what you want" download. That means free, or you can support these dudes and flip them a few bucks like I did.
I have not listened to it yet due to the awesomeness of being at work, but their demo and EP were great so I know this will be too.
Go ahead and grab your copy by clicking HERE
and check out their older stuff below.

Gaslight Anthem mixing it up
At the Stone Pony, The Gaslight Anthem did a little re-arranging of their song "angry johnny and the radio" by mixing in a little bit of Brand New's "Jesus" New Jersey boys seem to stick together and this is a great freaking version of this song. You can get your own copy of the live song by clicking this entire sentence.
I don't own the link nor do I have the creative rights to any of this, I am merely passing it along to those interested.
The Gaslight Anthem have no bad records, so check them out by clicking on the images etc below

Chuck Ragan and Tim McIlrath singing "California Burritos"
Holy Shit! 2 of the most distinctive voices in punk music singing one of the coolest songs from the long-lost days of rumbleseat. Chuck Ragan is one of the guitar and vocalists from Hot Water Music, along with a damn fine set of acoustic solo songs, along with his first foray into that sound as "rumbleseat." Tim is the singer of the much loved Chicago band Rise Against.
Please enjoy "California Burritos"
